There are moments in the life of a community when you are reminded of just how special the people around you truly are. This past fundraiser was one of those moments.
Thank you to everyone who gave, everyone who participated, everyone who made a call, sent a message, encouraged a friend, helped behind the scenes, and everyone who simply got behind this incredible campaign.
The response from our community was truly amazing.
What touched me most was not only the incredible generosity, but the spirit of unity and togetherness that we experienced. People came together with a shared understanding that our community is something worth investing in, something worth protecting, and something worth building for the future.
In Parshat Nitzavim, Moshe Rabbeinu gathers the entire nation together “your leaders, your elders, your officers… your children, your wives…” and they enter into a covenant of Arvut, mutual responsibility.
That is what a community is about.
We are responsible for one another. We care about one another. And we understand that the Jewish community we enjoy today exists because previous generations were willing to invest, sacrifice and build.
Now, that responsibility has been placed in our hands.
We are the link between the generations that came before us and the generations that will follow. Every time we support our shul, strengthen our programmes, encourage our children, welcome another family, attend a shiur, participate in an event or contribute to the future of our community, we are strengthening that chain.
And this fundraiser showed just how strong that chain can be.
I feel incredibly privileged to be part of this community, and I want to express my deepest appreciation to each and every one of you.
May Hashem bless our community with continued unity, growth, nachas and bracha. May we continue to care for one another, support one another and build together so that the next generation can proudly receive the beautiful chain of our Mesorah and continue it even further.
